Here it is, the last must-watch holiday movie. While I wasn't really putting these in any kind of order, this one really is the #1 MUST WATCH Christmas movie.
I didn't really see this movie until I was in high school. We watched it over the course of a couple days in my Bible class and it's probably one of the clearest memories I have from those days (you know, taking up the space where maybe some extensive biology or history knowledge should be). I was absolutely captivated with how beautiful this story was, how raw and real George's life and feelings are, and how powerful it is at it's key moments.
If you live under a rock, you might not know the story (in which case, run out to the store TODAY and buy it!). It's the story of George Bailey, a man conflicted between his dreams and ambitions and his decency and integrity. As circumstance would have it, George never gets out of his home town, never does anything he perceives as "big." When things don't seem to be able to get any worse, they do. A man at the end of his rope, George, panics and contemplates suicide, at which point he's given the chance to see what the world would be like without him. True story: I can't write this without the crazy urge to go watch it right now!!

There are no fancy shmancy tips for making this movie night more magical. It stands well enough on its own :)
