We moved into this house 3 years ago. It was the second place I've ever lived where we had free reign to paint/decorate however we wanted. I think that freedom has played a hefty part in my need to paint really bold colors on the walls. That and well, I really love color. This time around though, the palate was just way way too dark. Dark walls, dark couch, darkish carpet, dark piano . . . to much dark, drab boring. Time for a change!
These are the Befores :) It's fine and I haven't hated the brown/blue/green thing, it's just time for change, ya know?
I'm striving for light and bright and to bring in the pops of color that I love so dearly into this room with my accessories rather than my walls. Most people have to "take the plunge" into color, I'm having to hold my breath and take the plunge into a neutral . . . it's hard for me, it really is!
But wow, check out what David Bromstad of Color Splash did, bright white walls and still HUGE color:

My budget and time are limited so I've decided I can slice this project pie into 6 easy peasy pieces (each with it's own dedicated post):
1) Curtains: Wide stripes in bright happy colors! Here's hoping we can pull them off!
2) Paint: Palest pink on the ceiling, wall color yet to be determined
3) Gallery Wall: I'm sorta thinking floor to ceiling . . . too much? we'll see. I have so many pictures of my little lovelies and also will somebody please tell my husband to buy me this poster for Valentine's Day:

4) Furniture and Layout: Maybe I can magically win some extra $$$ and buy a new couch before I get to this post :) just maybe . . .Also will include my storage solutions here!
5) Accessories: I love super cute, unique pieces that cause people to smile. Also pillows inspired by these two pics are already in the works:

6) The Reveal. Isn't this always the best part of all those HGTV shows?
